Boston Daniels Park

A full renovation of the historic Boston Daniels Park featuring new walkways, community gathering areas, lighting, art integration, greenspaces, and updated signage—anchored by the Chief Boston Daniels Monument.

Boston Daniels Park is undergoing a historic restoration as the first gateway project of the Quindaro Peace & Arts District. The renovation includes new green spaces, accessible walkways, gathering areas, arts features, and the life-size bronze monument of Chief Boston Daniels.

Chief Boston Daniels Monument

The Chief Boston Daniels Monument, sculpted by world-renowned artist Ed Dwight, honors the legacy of Kansas City, Kansas’ first Black police chief and serves as a powerful symbol of community pride, history, and resilience. Scheduled for completion and installation by August 2026, the monument marks Mr. Dwight’s first public installation in his hometown and his final artistic work after more than 50 years of internationally recognized contributions to art and cultural storytelling.

Quindaro Peace and Urban Arts Disrict (QPAD)

The Quindaro Peace and Arts District is a community-led revitalization initiative in Northeast Kansas City, Kansas, that uses arts, culture, economic development, and equitable investment strategies to restore historically disinvested neighborhoods. Through projects that include housing, green spaces, cultural landmarks, and small business growth, QPAD aims to strengthen community well-being, preserve heritage, and create sustainable opportunities for residents and future generations.

QPAD Development Initiatives

The Quindaro Peace and Arts District’s development framework includes 21 coordinated projects, seven housing developments, seven green spaces, and seven commercial initiatives, designed to support smart growth and long-term community stability. These efforts focus on expanding quality housing options, creating accessible public and environmental spaces, and strengthening local business corridors to drive equitable economic revitalization in historically disinvested neighborhoods.

Parkwood Park Aquatic Center Revitalization

Parkwood Park Community Center is being transformed into a state-of-the-art Aquatic Center to expand health, recreation, and youth opportunities for the community. Residents are encouraged to share their ideas and help shape the new center by completing the community opinion survey. Click Here
